I always used to wonder if it was OK to question God. I used to look down upon myself and others who even thought once about questioning the bible; the book that is ‘bound’ to us as human beings. Although, growing up, my family and I never really attended church… We would go the occasional Sunday. We would always be sure to make it on Easter and Christmas though (because God cares about those two days the most). I am not saying this is right but just because you say it’s wrong doesn’t mean I will agree with you. Questioning and researching leads to self-exploration which is the most important thing you can do in your life. Understand who you are and what you want to do with your life. One chance; better make it count.

Every man and woman that is comfortable with his or her religion will tell you it is OK to question your God and I agree. Questioning God will lead you to picking up your bible, which in turn will lead to you studying and possibly learning something new. Ask questions, take answers in moderation. I hear this one alot: “You can’t take the bible literally”. Well, I’m here to tell you something. This is a very literal and harsh world. I believe in luck and miracles but I don’t believe there is a God behind any of it, what about you? Do you ever wonder if the bible was wrote for a tad-bit of hope?

What do humans need the most? Hope. Why do we pray at night? Hope. Why do we believe in a God and read from his book then say we are of holy stature? Hope. Oh and every man/woman/child that has been saved, woo. Best story ever. They throw in some awesome punch lines when talking about it. It was a cold rainy night, my feet were shivering and I prayed to God. The part they left out was: …and nothing happened, and nothing happens, but this is why I have faith, I keep hoping and wanting, praying and believing, guided by Gods strength, I will continue to hope there is more. Wake up. It’s all in your mind.

Hope can and will blind you. I can hope that I will someday sail the world, but sitting here hoping is going to do me no good. It takes work. It takes passion. You have to want to live for yourself and want to better yourself to become/do anything. So while you’re struggling through life, praying to your God to make everything better yet you keep getting shot down: where is your God? Here is a prime example. You wake up and feel like complete crap. Bills are late, you are in debt, there’s no way out. You head off to work for your daily grind and you think to yourself right before you walk in “Today is going to be alright, I will just smile and ignore everything bad in my life.” As you sit there working, smiling with your co-workers, are you truly happy inside? No.. Do they know it? Of course it depends on how you’re acting, yea, but here lies my point. You can make people believe you feel happy even when you aren’t. You can make yourself believe that you feel better because you have God watching over you.

So next time you ask yourself “Is it OK to question God?” Realize that it is the fear that was pushed over you by religion that is making you ask yourself over and over. Break free from that fear. Examine both sides of the double edged blade.

Lets face it. Only few people are lucky enough to get rich quick. The other majority of millionaires created their way from the start and continue to do so. The problem we have today is the lack of confidence in most humans; to step up, be a leader and pursue a life they truly want.

Have you ever thought about what you truly want to do with your life? Maybe you have wanted to start your own business or maybe you just feel that your heart isn’t where it should be and that you should be working towards a new career. But, as always, something holds you back. You are afraid to move outside of your comfort zone and take a risk. I mean, if you have a family you can’t just quit your job for something that may not work out; then you and your family would both suffer.

This doesn’t mean that you can’t change your life though, because you can. It takes the desire, motivation and dedication to push forward to see results. Say you want to start working on the internet doing web design; well, you can teach yourself online. And you will probably start giving out excuses such as “Well when I get home from work it’s late and I just want to relax” OK then, you will be living the same life you are now next year, the year after that and probably a few more years after that.

You have to truly want change to change. We all do it, we all give thousands of excuses for every day life. Anything we can throw an excuse out on; we will. My first tip in creating a new life for yourself and succeeding is dropping every single excuse. Throw them all out. There should only be “I can” or “I don’t”, you should never say “try”. For example; I can change my life and I am going to.. VS.. I think I could change my life if I really wanted to try. Confidence. Strength. Passion. If you are passionate enough about what you are wanting to pursue then you have the inner strength to be successful at doing so.

The more confident you are, the more motivated you will be. The more motivated you are, the more you will get done. The difference between the middle class and millionaires is simpy this: the millionaires work smarter, harder and more often. You can have anything you want; you just have to want it bad enough. If you are not happy with your job or career choice; change it now. There is no better time than today. We only have so much time on this earth, we have to make the best of it.

If you wish to be fully alive you must develop a sense of perspective. Life is infinitley greater than this trifle your heart is attatched to and which you have given the power to so upset you. -Anthony de Mello

As we grow up we count on our parents/guardians to guide us and tell us what’s right and wrong. We get all of our information from those that we are around and our beliefs begin to develope. The sad part about this is, we have no validation for our beliefs, we just listen, swallow and choke on everything that’s tossed to us.

For example, if I had of been raised by satanic, closed-minded parents I probably would believe that Satan is the king of kings. Now I know all of you religious folks are probably saying “Oh Lord God, please save him for saying Satan! He even capitalized Satan, he is doomed!”

The fact of the matter is that we are given no choice when growing up. We are pushed into a religion or belief that we know nothing about, told that it is good; sometimes even threatened that if we don’t believe we will burn in hell for all eternity… Does this sound right?

Let’s not forget that God is all loving and shouldn’t judge kids since they are young and know nothing.

So why is it that you believe what you believe? Do you even know what you believe in? If someone asks you to give them your favorite verse out of your bible, can you do it without looking it up? The reason I ask is because 90% of religious people can’t. Now it’s OK if you are in that 90%, don’t feel bad. God doesn’t care that you are an uneducated human being.

Why is it that 90% of all religous people can’t tell me what they believe in? I’ll take a guess at why this is so: they do not alot the time to study their bible, yet alone do they even care to do so. They believe that showing up to church once a week is all that God wants and when they go up to the alter to repent, their soul is saved once again. Yet they go home and go out, grab a few drinks, have casual sex and act like they are doing nothing wrong. If you are one of these people, let me be the first to break it to you: your God hates you.

Do you really believe in what you were taught while growing up? Did you actually analyze everything about your religion, question yourself, your beliefs and form an educated opinion or did you just roll with it and figure that everything you were taught was right and you should stick with it just because. Are you too scared to think outside your cloak of religion? Too scared that God might smite you down if you do so?

If anything you should get a cookie when you arrive at the gates to be judged. God is going to send the fakes (90%) straight to hell. The ones that actually questioned (10%) might have a chance, if there even is a God.

So I ask again, why do you believe what you believe? Have you ever considered thinking for yourself instead of being a mindless zombie? Are you educated in what you believe or do you just brush people off and say “God save them..” Why is it that most religious people can’t hold a conversation without getting pissed off? It’s like they think we are physically cutting through them or something, exposing their true self.

You can clearly see when someone is a fake. If you are a Christian and you haven’t questioned God and if he exists or you haven’t researched evolution then you aren’t very educated. You have to look at every angle to truly know what you believe in. Saying you believe in something without knowing what else is out there is like eating a diet consisting of onions only.

One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it’s worth watching.

Think for yourself. The only way to understand you is to find you. God leaves you questioning. Religion fills you with fear. Faith leaves you blind. Hope will keep you on your toes, but in the end, it’s nothing. Hope is just like praying, no matter how much you do it; nothing happens. You have to make something of yourself by pushing yourself, taking action and taking control of your life. You have one chance on this earth and just remember; you were born alone and you will die alone.

Do you have free will? Better yet.. Do you know what free will really means?

The question of free will is whether, and in what sense, rational agents exercise control over their actions and decisions. Addressing this question requires understanding the relationship between freedom and cause, and determining whether the laws of nature are causally deterministic. -Wikipedia

There are a lot of different takes on free will and what it means. The most simplistic way to understand free will is by relating it to freedom. Although it can have its limitations, so can anything. You being able to get in your car and make the decision to drive to your job every morning is free will. You going to the mall to grab a new shirt is free will.

Some religions, mainly christianity believe that free will was instilled in everyone by God and that we make every decision in our life. Many christians also believe that everything happens for a reason.. I was watching the discovery channel the other day and this kids town got destroyed by a tornado. He said that his grandparents got stuck under their house and 12 “men of God” came and rescued them. Don’t you think this is a bit irrational? If “everything” happens for a reason then God is the one who sent the tornado in the first place. Is that not a sign that it was their time to go? They can thank innovation for a nice house to collapse on them and save them.

If God sent these 12 men to save them, was it really meant to happen? If we all have free will, then they decided to help out and look for survivors; not God. So how does free will make sense if you believe that God has a plan for each and every one of us? How do you explain the fine line between free will and devotion to your God? If God does in fact have a plan for each and every one of us and he just failed miserably at killing this kids grandparents, doesn’t that make them unloyal servants? An all loving God..?

If you have free will then God has no plan for you. You chose your course of action and plot your life, not him. Many people just can’t seem to wrap their heads around logical thinking. If you believe in free will, you can not believe that everything happens for a reason. If you believe that everything happens for a reason, you can not believe in free will. Simple?

But, Scott.. You’re the one being irrational. You are making too much sense to be right.. Right?

You tell me..

Genesis 2:6-7 “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed the fig leaves together, and made them selves aprons.”

If God put the tree out in the middle of the garden without anything protecting it than yes, he is giving us all free will.. Now here is where “everything happens for a reason” gets put to shame..

Genesis 2:10-13 “And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
And he said, who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, where of I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
And the Lord God said unto the woman, what is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.”

Right here, God explains that he didn’t know what would happen. God clearly asks them what they did. I mean, he didn’t even use common sense. If he just created man and female and knew they were both idiots; then they magically started dressing themselves because they were naked, is that not a tell tail sign that they ate from this oh-so-delicious tree of knowledge? ..We can’t learn anything without working to obtain knowledge.

Do you have free will?

1:1-3 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light”

1:1-3 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light”

So this has been on my heart a lot recently and I have yet to come to a conclusion so what better way to get answers than to throw myself out there and open this topic up for discussion? I am not in any way shape or form trying to offend anyone; so if you are stuck up and easily offended when someone is being open about the bible, I strongly advise you to close your browser now.

Now before I start, I want you all to know that I am not a scientist. I might sound a bit contradictive but I am looking for answers to questions I find impossible to answer within the bible. I claim no religion, I also do not claim to be agnostic or atheist. I am who I am and I do not believe that you should judge someone based off of “titles” when you can develop a greater understanding through their intelligence.

If you read through this post and say “oo, I know the answer! I am going to tell him ‘Well, This question is not meant to be understood.’ then please, hold it in. Sure, some things in the Bible we will never understand, but why would we be led into a lie from the very first verse in the very first chapter of the Bible, the book which we are to hold onto, study, learn and grow from? It just doesn’t make sense to me.

1:4 ”And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.”

So our God, a spiritual being, said ok; let’s create Earth. I will take this black, empty, dark space and throw planet Earth, hmm, here. So bam, there’s Earth. Sitting in the middle of this “blank space” (I hope I’ve got your mind drawing an image right now.) Now remember, as stated above.. God created the heaven at the same time that he created the Earth. Now if you believe every single word in the Bible then ask yourself this: Where did the universe come from? Or.. better yet… Does the universe exist? Because if it does, it wasn’t mentioned as being created by God. Maybe God is in fact the universe?

Back on topic. The Earth is sitting there in the middle of this blank space. And then God realizes that the darkness consuming the earth is bad and to correct this he created light. Light was created on the 1st day. Without light, we simply could not exist. So let’s stop here and discuss this for a minute. God created the earth and the heavens and light on the first day. We have no idea if God created a universe. All we know is, somehow, the Earth is sitting out in this dark blank space all alone, glowing with light (in the day of course).

The Bible then talks about God naming night and day. God then creates grass, fruits, etc. Then, On the 4th day:

1:14-15 “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.”

God then creates the sun and the stars. The Bible is telling us that God placed the earth in the middle of space without a sun, without stars, without any other planets. Just earth. Then on the 4th day he finally adds the sun and other planets/stars into this blank space. My question is this: How did God create light before he created the sun? And even then.. How did God keep the earth from falling through space without a sun to hold us up? Lets say the sun just ran out of juice one day and stopped shining. According to the Bible; Well, since God created light before he created the sun and since the sun is to divide the day from the night then we would still have light without the sun because God created light before creating the sun and does not state anywhere in the Bible that the sun is our primary source of light.

How is this true? Our day and our night is not determined simply by the sun but by our moon also, right? How is all this so? How did God create the earth, with fruits and grass and water without having the sun to keep it in our solar system? How did these fruits grow without a source of heat? Wouldn’t the world basically be a frozen sphere? It’s not physically possible.

1:16-17 “And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,”

So now, after creating light.. Then creating the stars and the sun and the moons and planets.. God made “two great lights”? These two great lights referring to the sun and the moon, correct? But the moon isn’t a light, its more like a mirror or a shield that is reflecting the suns light onto the earth. So in turn; there is only one light that he created, not two. Now wait, start thinking hard. Remember at the beginning.. God created light on the 1st day. So is this referring to this 2nd light? The light that will still exist if the sun goes away? If not, then what does this mean? Once again, it makes no sense at all.

Is the Bible basically telling us from the start not to believe everything in it? Is this a sign or maybe this is just a test of faith and a test of beliefs? There has to be answer out there for this. If I have said anything that is inaccurate in your mind then please tell me. Lets throw everything else aside for this split moment besides this and have a serious discussion. How did God create light before creating the sun? How did God create the earth, with fruits and grass without creating the sun first?
