Why do you believe what you believe?

June 26th, 2008

As we grow up we count on our parents/guardians to guide us and tell us what’s right and wrong. We get all of our information from those that we are around and our beliefs begin to develope. The sad part about this is, we have no validation for our beliefs, we just listen, swallow and choke on everything that’s tossed to us.

For example, if I had of been raised by satanic, closed-minded parents I probably would believe that Satan is the king of kings. Now I know all of you religious folks are probably saying “Oh Lord God, please save him for saying Satan! He even capitalized Satan, he is doomed!”

The fact of the matter is that we are given no choice when growing up. We are pushed into a religion or belief that we know nothing about, told that it is good; sometimes even threatened that if we don’t believe we will burn in hell for all eternity… Does this sound right?

Let’s not forget that God is all loving and shouldn’t judge kids since they are young and know nothing.

So why is it that you believe what you believe? Do you even know what you believe in? If someone asks you to give them your favorite verse out of your bible, can you do it without looking it up? The reason I ask is because 90% of religious people can’t. Now it’s OK if you are in that 90%, don’t feel bad. God doesn’t care that you are an uneducated human being.

Why is it that 90% of all religous people can’t tell me what they believe in? I’ll take a guess at why this is so: they do not alot the time to study their bible, yet alone do they even care to do so. They believe that showing up to church once a week is all that God wants and when they go up to the alter to repent, their soul is saved once again. Yet they go home and go out, grab a few drinks, have casual sex and act like they are doing nothing wrong. If you are one of these people, let me be the first to break it to you: your God hates you.

Do you really believe in what you were taught while growing up? Did you actually analyze everything about your religion, question yourself, your beliefs and form an educated opinion or did you just roll with it and figure that everything you were taught was right and you should stick with it just because. Are you too scared to think outside your cloak of religion? Too scared that God might smite you down if you do so?

If anything you should get a cookie when you arrive at the gates to be judged. God is going to send the fakes (90%) straight to hell. The ones that actually questioned (10%) might have a chance, if there even is a God.

So I ask again, why do you believe what you believe? Have you ever considered thinking for yourself instead of being a mindless zombie? Are you educated in what you believe or do you just brush people off and say “God save them..” Why is it that most religious people can’t hold a conversation without getting pissed off? It’s like they think we are physically cutting through them or something, exposing their true self.

You can clearly see when someone is a fake. If you are a Christian and you haven’t questioned God and if heĀ  exists or you haven’t researched evolution then you aren’t very educated. You have to look at every angle to truly know what you believe in. Saying you believe in something without knowing what else is out there is like eating a diet consisting of onions only.

One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it’s worth watching.

Think for yourself. The only way to understand you is to find you. God leaves you questioning. Religion fills you with fear. Faith leaves you blind. Hope will keep you on your toes, but in the end, it’s nothing. Hope is just like praying, no matter how much you do it; nothing happens. You have to make something of yourself by pushing yourself, taking action and taking control of your life. You have one chance on this earth and just remember; you were born alone and you will die alone.
